Collage: Assembling Contemporary Art

Blanche Craig surveys collage from its modernist beginnings to contemporary practice, placing familiar cut-and-paste methods beside digital, three-dimensional, assemblage, and installation work. Organized around five themes, the book combines critical essays with extensive reproductions by major historical figures and living artists. Works by Picasso, Braque, Schwitters, Höch, and others help trace how artists have used found material, fragmentation, commercial imagery, and physical layering. The result is both a visual collection and an account of collage’s continuing reinvention.
